As Neerja gets on Pan Am 73, it is later disclosed that a Palestinian terrorist group called the Abu Nidal organization, backed by Libya, intends to hijack the plane in Karachi. Neerja left Naresh and found a job as a flight attendant with Pan Am Airways. He sent a letter to Neerja's parents, complaining about the dowry and their daughter's lack of domestic skills, and demanded that Neerja either return the money or not return home at all.
Eventually, she decided to return home for a modeling contract, but Naresh was not happy about it. Unfortunately, Neerja's marriage was unhappy, and Naresh treated her badly because of her small dowry and inability to do housework. While on a flight, Neerja thinks back to her arranged marriage to Naresh, who lived and worked in Qatar.
